Should you repair or replace your security cameras?
Honest answer: it depends. Some systems are absolutely worth repairing — others are past their useful life and you’ll spend more chasing repairs than upgrading. We’ll tell you straight up which category yours falls into:
- Repair makes sense if: your system is under 5 years old, uses IP/PoE cameras, has reasonable image quality, and only one or two components are failing
- Partial upgrade makes sense if: your NVR is still solid but specific cameras are aging — we can swap individual cameras while keeping the recorder
- Full replacement makes sense if: your system uses old analog cameras, is over 5-7 years old, can’t be accessed remotely, or has multiple failing components

What if I don’t know what brand my cameras are?
That’s the most common situation we see. Just take a photo of your NVR/DVR (the recorder box) and one of your cameras and send them to us. We can identify almost any major or minor brand from a clear photo — and we’ll tell you what we find before we send a technician.
How fast can you come?
Most repair calls are scheduled within the same week. For urgent commercial situations — like a break-in where footage is needed for police — we can often dispatch same-day. Call us and we’ll give you a realistic timeline based on your situation.
What does a repair cost?
It depends on the issue and what parts (if any) need replacing. A simple cabling or settings fix is often resolved in one visit at our standard service rate. Hardware replacements (failed hard drive, dead camera, faulty power supply) are typically easy fixes. We give you a clear estimate before we do the work — no surprises.
My original installer won’t return my calls. Can you take over my system?
Yes — this is one of the most common reasons people call us. We take over surveillance systems installed by other companies regularly. The single most common cause of “my cameras stopped working” is a failed hard drive in the NVR or DVR. These drives run 24/7 for years and eventually wear out. The second most common is power supply failures — both at the recorder and at individual PoE cameras. The third is environmental damage to outdoor cameras (moisture, freezing, sun-baked housings).
Most of these failures are preventable with periodic checking to see if your system is still holding recordings and still online 1nce a week, most cameras in outdoor environments are not installed correctly and shielded proper from the weather, a common mistake is mounting a camera sideways in an open rain exposed area.
